Sashimaki damp plain (Akita)

Sashimaki-shitsugen is a damp plain close to Lake Tazawa located in Senboku city, Akita prefecture.
 It's known as a cluster of mizubasho (Japanese skunk cabbage) surrounded by alder trees.


Mizubasho can be observed closely on wood trails laid in the damp plain.

Mizubasho or Japanese skunk cabbage (scientific name: Lysichiton camtschatcense)


There is also a zazen-so (an eastern skunk cabbage) in a cluster of mizubasho.

Zazenso or Eastern skunk cabbage  (scientific name: Symplocarpus foetidus)
