Kanazawa (Ishikawa)

Kanazawa, now the capital city of Ishikawa prefecture, was a castle town governed by the Kaga Maeda family for about 280 years from 1583 to 1868.

Onosho canal, an waterway which carried goods from the harbor to the castle town in old days.

Kanazawa Castle Ishikawa-mon Gate, a gate faced to Kenroku-en garden, is former a rear gate but now a front gate.

Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki-yagura (left turret),  Gojikken-nagaya (middle),  Hishi-yagura (right turret)  They were restored in 2001.

Kazue-machi Chaya District    A row of traditional houses along Asano River as seen from Asanogawa Ohashi Bridge.

Higashiyama Higashi Chaya District     Historical rows of houses are designated as Japan's Cultural Assets.

The ruins of Ataka-no-Seki (A barrier at Ataka), located in Komatsu city close to Kanazawa city.
The statues of one scene of Kabuki 'Kanjincho': each statue is, from left, Yoshitsune, Benkei and Togashi Saemon.

The '智仁勇' monument says that '智'(chi) is Benkei's wisdom, '仁'(jin) is Togashi's humanity and '勇'(yu) is Yoshitsune's bravery.
