Fujimi-yagura (Mt.Fuji-view Keep) , the three-story keep approximately 16 m high.

 The gracefully curved stone walls are an example of the uchikomihagi construction technique.

The Imperial Palace consists of seven wings, including Seiden State Function Hall, Homeiden State Banquet Hall, Chowaden Reception Hall, Rensui Dining Room, Chigusa&Chidori Drawing Room and the Emperor's daily office.

Chowaden Reception Hall as seen from the side.    It's 163 m long with veranda on the front.

North porch, the entrance for domestic VIP guests such as the prime minister.


Imperial Palace East Plaza located in front of Chowaden Reception Hall, is approximately 15,000 ㎡ wide and capable for 20,000 people to gather on the occasion of New Year's Day and the Emperor's Birthday.

There is the shrubbery 2m wide planted with sasanqua and winter camellia in front of Chowaden Reception Hall.  A yellow one in it is an Arita-yaki lantern.

 The central veranda where the Emperor stands on the occasion of New Year's Day and the Emperor's Birthday.

Naka-mon, literally means 'middle gate', leads to  Seimon-tetsu-bashi Bridge commonly called Nijubashi.

There is a parking lot with 120 cars in the basement of this East Plaza.

Kyuden Nantei (Imperial Palace South Garden) adjoining to the Chowaden.



Nantei-no-Okarikomi   (Big karikomi in South Garden)
The 'karikomi' means that many trees are individually planted with the top parts of the trees cut into one shape as a whole.

Hasuikebori (Lotus Moat)

The white building which is seen on the stone wall in the Hasuikebori is Fujimi-tamon Defence-house.

In about an hour arriving at the Fujimi-yagura near the tour start point.。
