Sankyo warehouse in Sakata (Yamagata)

Sankyo warehouse with white mortar walls, located in Sakata city, Yamagata prefecture, was built in 1893 for storage of rice.
It's where NHK TV program 'Oshin' was filmed.

Big trees of zelkova behind the warehouse have been protecting it from the heat in midsummer.
Now it's an avenue with 36 trees of over 150-year-old.

Sankyo Bridge across Niida River    It's a wooden bridge for pedestrian only.

There are 9 warehouses with the storage capacity of 180,000 bales of rice in total.

The former mansion of Honma family, a wealthy merchant in Sakata.   They were said to be the largest landowner in Japan.
