Hirado (Nagasaki)

Hirado, located in Nagasaki prefecture, Kyushu, was the castle town of Hirado Domain during Edo era.
The strait called 'Hirado-seto' as seen from Hirado island. The opposite side is Kitamatsuura Peninsula Of Kyushu's mainland.

Hirado Kaijo Hotel, a seaside hotel which has a big bath with aquarium and an open-air bath with ocean view.

Kuroko-jima island in the strait of Hirado-seto.    Its primeval forest is designated as a Japan's Natural Monument.

Hirado Castle built on the hill protruded to the strait of Hirado-seto       It's also called Kameoka Castle.

Hirado Bridge, a suspension bridge with 665m long, between Hirado Island and Kitamatsuura Peninsula of Kyushu's mainland.

The ruins of Hirado Dutch Trading Post        The plaster wall on the stone steps is called Dutch Wall.


Sakigata Park

The monument of Saint Francis Xavier    It was built in 1949 as commemoration of 400 years since Francis Xavier had come to Japan.

It's the former 'Tsuru-ga-mine-tei', the lord Matsura clan's mansion in Hirado domain.
It's a Tangible Cultural Property Designated by Nagasaki prefecture.

'Saiwai-bashi-Gomon', currently a gate in Hirado City Hall.
A stone bridge behind it is 'Saiwai-bashi', a bridge over Kagami-gawa river.

Saiwai-bashi is designated a National Important Cultural Property, and also called Dutch Bridge.

'Ashi-yu', a footbath, and  'Ude-yu', an armbath, in Hirado hot spring.   It's free.
