Tsumago-juku (Nagano)

Tsumago-juku has been restored to its appearance as an Edo-era post town, located in Nagiso,  Nagano Pref. Japan.

The restored row of houses along the former post road.   Most were shops and inns for travelers along the Nakasendō.


Tsumago-juku was the forty-second of the sixty-nine post towns on the Nakasendō which connected Edo with Kyoto.

Tsumago-juku has been selected as the conservation district of traditional buildings in Japan.
