Cherry blossoms in Mishima Taisha Shrine (Shizuoka)

Mishima Taisha Shrine is located in Mishima-shi, Shizuoka pref.

O-torii, big gate of Mishima Taisha Shrine located along Tokaido highway streching from Tokyo to Kyoto.

Approach to Shrine,  in full bloom of cherry blossoms.

Kami-ike Pond in the front garden of Shrine.


Around two hundred cherry trees are planted. There are about 15 different varieties, including Shidare-zakura, Ohshima-zakura, Somei-Yoshino as well as Mishima- zakura.

After passing through Somon Gate,  Approach to Shinmon Gate comes.

Entering Shinmon Gate, reach the main building called "Goshaden" of Mishima Taisha Shrine.    Goshaden,  consisting of Honden ( Inner Shrine), Heiden and Haiden (Hall of Worship.), is designated National Cultural Asset Building.





Omikuji is custom of fortunetelling that has continued from long ago up to present times.

Shinrokuen    Deers are bred in the garden of Shrine.

Giant osmanthus of over 1200 years old, is designated Natural Treasure in Japan.
